A machine arrives on a lowboy or step-deck trailer, and the driver needs somewhere to put it down safely. Before your delivery window, please have:
- Firm, level ground the truck can reach and turn around on. Soft ground, tight residential streets and low branches are the three things that most often stop a delivery.
- Room to unload — allow roughly 70 to 80 feet of clear straight space behind the trailer for the ramps and the machine coming off.
- Overhead clearance of at least 14 feet on the approach.
The driver unloads the machine from the trailer — that's part of your transportation charge, and it's their equipment and their responsibility. Moving it from the drop point to where you actually want it is yours.
If your site can't take a trailer that size, tell us before we schedule. We can usually arrange delivery to a yard, a truck stop or another accessible point nearby instead, which is far cheaper than a failed delivery.
